AgriCom project offers tailored assistance to prospective farmers, food businesses, food-retail SMEs or similar agri-food SMEs in Belgium, Croatia, Greece, Italy, and Spain, to create renewable energy communities.
Project mission is to empower agri-food and retail SMEs to become active players in the clean energy transition — generating, sharing, and managing renewable energy within their communities.
Project Goals
- Establish 15 renewable energy communities across 5 EU countries.
- Support each community with tailored technical assistance.
- Reduce energy costs and emissions in the agri-food value chain.
- Strengthen local cooperation between producers, retailers, and consumers.
- Build a replicable model for other regions in Europe.
ZEZ’s role in the project:
- Establishment and technical support for renewable energy communities:
ZEZ is responsible for selecting and managing the process of establishing three energy communities in Croatia within the agri-food sector, providing them with comprehensive technical support—from developing feasibility studies for solar power plants and offering legal advice to designing business models. - Promotion and improvement of public policies: ZEZ carries out awareness-raising activities on the benefits of energy communities and actively collaborates with national institutions by strengthening capacities and preparing recommendations aimed at improving the legislative framework.

The project is co-funded by the EU Single Market Programme (SMP COSME) under grant number 101241510. In the amount of 996.685 €, while total project value is 1.328.914 €. Project timeline is 15 October 2025 – 14 October 2027.
